Our Teddy Bear's One!

August 12, 2011 Celebrating at home!
Daddy & Mommy with their Birthday Boy
Happy birthday, my precious Ethan Nathanael, a week and a day ago you turned one (I'm a little behind on blogging).  It is so hard to believe you are not a baby but a toddler (literally).  Toddling around several steps at a time, while you carry a favorite toy in each hand is your new thing.  What a joy it is to see you grow and develop, yet at the same time it is sad realizing the time we have to train you for the Lord is short.  So we will have to enjoy every second we are given!  You have filled my and Daddy's heart with so much more love and joy than we could have ever imagined.  The day you were born I think our hearts doubled in size taking emotions to a whole new level.  We love you and are so very proud of you.  We pray that you will grow up to be a man who loves God with his whole heart and wants to serve Him.

He loves to swing!
We celebrated Ethan's first birthday with our little family of three throughout the day.  Beginning when he woke up to discover his highchair had been decorated for the occasion.  Then we had a special lunch and sang "Happy Birthday."  After lunch we let him open his gifts from us and the cards that arrived.  We also decorated the fellowship hall where his party would be the next day.  My grandparents and sister came in that afternoon.  Granddaddy and Memaw brought Ethan an extra special surprise for his birthday: a new swing!  We have enjoyed that swing everyday  this week!

On Saturday we had planned a party with our families and church family.  My Daddy and Momma, and Joshua's Maye, brother, step brother, and his wife also came down for the party and we enjoyed spending the weekend with them.

Such a cutie

Ethan's party was from 3:00-5:30 that afternoon, and we really enjoyed our time with all of our friends and family who attended.  A special thank you to Mrs. Jackie Springs for making Ethan's first teddy bear birthday cake and the delicious punch!  It was amazing!  Ethan definitely thought so!  He dug into his cake with both hands and red frosting was covering his face!  Priceless.  He loved seeing all of his little friends at the party too.  We appreciate our family helping prepare the food and clean up afterward.  This was such a blessing.

Another big bite of cake!
