Wisdom from Thumper

One of my favorite movies growing up was Bambi...and I'll never forget his cute little rabbit friend named Thumper. Even as a four year old I remember Thumper's mother prompting him to say, "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all." That phrase became one my Momma would repeat to my sister and I when we were having a disagreement or just for good measure.

I have been reminded more than once that Thumper's wisdom is applicable for me as an adult possibly even more that when I was a child. In fact I believe that it is Scriptural, Proverbs 21:23 says, "Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles." Proverbs 31: 26 says that the virtuous woman "openeth her mouth with wisdom: and in her tongue is the law of kindness." Colosians 4:6 states, "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with sought, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Proverbs 17:27 states, &q…

Family visit

This weekend, my grandparents came to visit us (probably hoping that someone else would make his appearance too!). We enjoyed visiting with them, giving them the tour, and eating Memaw's homeade ice cream. Then on Saturday, Momma and Daddy joined us for the morning worship service, lunch, and the afternoon. I think like Memaw and Granddaddy, they were also hoping a little one would join us this weekend.

I too am hoping and praying that he may come early,(since we will be 38 weeks on Wednesday) but if my doctor is correct, then he will be hanging around very closely to his due date. We had another appointment yesterday afternoon (weekly visits now), and he hasn't descended much further than last week. On Sunday as I was getting up, I commented that I could not wait to hold him and he gave a little kick! I hope that means he can't wait either and not well you are going to have to wait a bit! Oh, how my friends and the boo…

Anniversary & Pregnancy Slideshows

Free digital slideshow personalized with Smilebox
As mentioned in an earlier post, here is a slideshow of our wedding photos to celebrate our one year anniversary. My how those thirteen and a half months have sped by! I am so blessed to be able to spend everyday with my best friend and have so many adventures with him. I can't believe all of the great things that have happened in that amount of time: two VBS, two Junior camps, teen conference, a youth rally, lots of junior and teen activities, a Christmas play, an Independence day program, two mini vacations...God has been so good to us and we are forever grateful to Him.

I also wanted to include a slide show of baby bump photos from the past eight months. We officially have twenty-three days until our August 11 due date. We had another appointment today and got a good report. Ethan is growing well and very healthy. I'm amazed at how much I can love someone I've not even seen…

Junior Camp

Joshua and I had the privilege to take our juniors to Harvest Time Bible Camp directed by Bro. Steven Brackeen in Ellensboro, NC. It was about a three and a half hour drive and worth every mile! It was so good to see some college friends and catch up on how God is working in their lives and ministries. The week was hot and busy, but being the prego mama I am, my husband and the staff saw to it that I was as comfortable as possible.

The camp was absolutely wonderful, driving on the property you could sense the preparation that had been made love for the campers. The Lord richly blessed during the chapel services and spoke to our hearts as well as our kids'. Many decisions were made including assurance of salvation, dedication to missionary service, praying for lost loved ones, and determining to share the gospel with them. The activities were top knotch too the kids were kept busy with devotions, crafts, horse back riding, swimming, wat…

Let the 35 day countdown begin!

4th of July Family Photo

August 11 is only thirty-five days away! I'm so excited to hold our sweet little one and see Joshua hold him too! Maybe he'll come early...that's sounding pretty nice about now...We had another Doctors appointment today. Ethan is growing strong, with a heartbeat of 168 bpm and measuring at 35 cm. We were given the ok from Dr. Phillips to go to junior camp next week. So things are progressing well and right on says, that he is tipping the scales at 5 1/4 pounds and 18 inches long. Wow! No wonder it's difficult to get comfortable and I feel like I'm permanently carrying around a watermelon! (Must be why I love to eat it all the time) LOL. Most of his basic physical development is complete now, so this is the time he'll gain a bit more weight from here on out and continue multiplying brain cells.
