Easter Week Ponderings

It's easy to get so used to hearing a story over and over that we somewhat get stuck in rut. If we are not careful, we can become so accustomed to listening to sermons and lessons on Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection that it becomes monotonous. But this week, let us slow down and ponder this- The most miraculous event in human history occurred on Easter: don't just listen to the story like it's the ten thousandth time you have heard it this Sunday. Listen intently like a child who is hearing it for the very first time.
Oh "Tell Me the Story of Jesus. Write on my heart every word. Tell me the story most precious, sweetest that ever was heard." For it was "Amazing Grace" that saved a wretched sinner like me. Our precious Mesiah was nailed to an "Old Rugged Cross," but praise the Lord, "Christ the Lord is Risen Today"! This is what differentiates Christianity from every other religion. It's a lifestyle...and our Lord and Savio…

20 Weeks & Counting

Daddy, Mommy, & Ethan at 20 weeks

Today marks the halfway mark of our prenatal journey. I can't believe that Ethan will be twenty weeks (or less) away from D-day! What an amazing journey it has been thus far. There is no greater sound on earth than hearing your unborn child's heart beat for the first time, watching him squirm and kick on an ultrasound machine, or dream of the things that you wish to teach and show him. With the nursery well underway, we are getting more excited each passing day. I find myself drawn to that room at times, which I am also compelled to go there at others (laundry, anyone?). When I do enter the nursery sometimes I can't help but wind the musical mobile and just listen and think about just a few short months down the rode. Wow!!! I'm going to be a Mommy! Other than the calling of Wife, I don't know of any higher calling I could be given.Ethan's is definitely showing!!!

Well, according to the book I've been reading (Wha…

The Nursery Times

The crib fully assembled.
The bears won't sleep with Ethan! But I did love the Alabama outfit from Papaw.
Daddy busy at work on Ethan's nursery.

We have began putting Ethan's nursery together, and it's coming along quite nicely! I just love all the cute little (& big) teddy bears! Joshua surprised me by decluttering what would be the nursery yesterday then bringing in the crib. We were able to assemble the crib, move the dresser (that will be the changing table), hang the wall plaques, , decorate the crib, put the mobile up, and put the teddy bears on the wall. Whew!

When it was all said and done last night, I just looked in wonder and imagined little Ethan sleeping in the crib and being rocked to sleep in that very room. I felt a flood of emotions as I realized the joys and responsibility we have been given by God to raise this precious little boy for His honor and glory. I can't wait to hold him for the very first time, look into his shining eyes and tell…

Happy Birthday to my Most Wonderful Husband!!!!

Celebrating with Joshua's family.
Party at my parents for My Wonderful Husband!!!

March 12, 1986 stands out as a milestone in history for it was the day that Joshua Horton was born. Today we celebrate his twenty-four years of life and the wonderful things that the Lord has done! As I listen to his testimony of God's faithfulness, I am amazed, not by how awesome my husband is (even though he is!), but amazed at our Great and Wonderful God. I wish I could tell you Joshua's testimony in this post, but he does a much better job than I do.

So today I would like to wish my husband a very Happy Birthday from myself, little Ethan and Daisy (our puppy)! We love you, dear! I am so glad that God brought us together and scripted out a beautiful story of His love through us. Again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!

Sweet little Ethan says hello...

Mommy & Ethan
So busy moving and kicking around yesterday!!!

We had our second ultrasound and it was so wonderful to hear the sound of Baby Horton's heartbeat again. We were able to see our sweet little one move around and kick, a very active little one. I am reminded of Psalm 139:13 & 14, "For thou hast possessed my reigns: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvelous are thy works and my soul knoweth quite well." I am amazed at seeing how God forms and fashions His children. What a fantastic thing it is to watch.

Joshua and I are thrilled to announce that God has been forming a precious little boy, and we have been given the privilege and great responsibility of training him for the Kingdom.

Sweet little Ethan Nathanael Horton can't wait to meet you all, and we are sure he will love you as much as we do. Praise the Lord for the blessings He has wrought!
